The Cervelo S5 Team SRAM Rival Complete Road Bike represents a new era in aerodynamics in the road bike category. The only difference between Cervelo and a pro tour bike is a couple components, and about six grand. Cervelo has developed several new designs to make the S5 the most aerodynamic bicycle ever built. They started by dropping the downtube which smoothes the airflow from frame to fork and minimizes turbulance behind the fork. Next they built this frame to handle a couple different bottle configurations to maximize your aero advantage. You'll also notice and extended rear wheel cutout to really smoothe out the airflow from frame to wheel. If you take a good look at the seat stays there is something unique about them as well. They shield the rear brake, again smoothing airflow from the front to the rear of this aero machine. The final nail in the performance coffin comes in the form of Cervelo's new BBright bottom bracket system. BBright uses an oversize 30mm axle and allows for oversized fram tubes. It is also asymmetrically designed, offering the optimal combination of stiffness and weight.
